Volunteer

We are in need of volunteers for the 90th ARBA Convention. If you would like to volunteer in any capacity please contact the individual listed below.

MERCHANDISE BOOTH - Help is needed now to take our convention merchandise to rabbit shows to promote the convention and also raise money for MARCS. Chairs Deb & Lia Schmittel (mother and daughter) need assistance. You can help at the shows they are scheduled to attend by giving them a break from being in the booth or even take a set of merchandise to a show that you plan to attend.  Please contact Deb Schmittel at debschmittel@msn.com  for more information on volunteering in this area.

SET UP - The judging equipment and coops will arrive in Harrisburg long before the exhibitors and we need to have a team in place to get everything set up. Gerry Vaerewyck and Claire Howman are the chairs and a large team is needed to make the magic happen.  Please contact Ruth-Ann Bell at ruthann.sbfarms@gmail.com for more information on volunteering in this area.

TEAR DOWN - If you have been to a national convention before, you know that tear down starts as soon as possible after things are over. While exhibitors are leaving on Wednesday, tear down is happening all around. It continues into the next day. This is an area of great concern as we know most people like to leave as soon as events are over. However, we will need just as large of a team of volunteers to help tear down as we need to set up. Same chairs: Gerry and Claire.
Please contact Ruth-Ann Bell at ruthann.sbfarms@gmail.com for more information on volunteering in this area.

CHECK IN - Mother and daughter team Lori Jo Whitehaus and Tori Perry are our Open and Youth Show Secretaries. For a national convention, this means ensuring a smooth check in for all exhibitors. Volunteers are needed two days before check in to stuff packets. When the Registration Booth is open for check in, it will stay open around the clock until the deadline to have all rabbits checked in. That means we need volunteers to be staffing the booth continuously from Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening.
Please contact Lori Jo Whitehaus at  ljwhitehaus@gmail.com for more information on volunteering in this area.

SECRETARY'S BOOTH - During the convention, a team of about 25 volunteers is needed to staff the booth with the majority of the work beginning on Monday morning. At that point, we will be preparing for check out and will again work around the clock to have all packets ready for exhibitors to take home on Wednesday morning. All of the computer data is handled by a vendor so you don't need to know any particular show program. Again, Lori Jo and Tori are coordinating this area.
Please contact Lori Jo Whitehaus at ljwhitehaus@gmail.com for more information on volunteering in this area.

SECURITY - There are a lot of exit doors at the Farm Show Complex and volunteers are needed to assist by monitoring a door to be sure that rabbits leaving the building have been properly checked out by the breed chair. A large crew is needed starting on Wednesday morning of checkout. Brian Bell is coordinating this aspect of the convention for now. A chair is needed to oversee the team of volunteers.
Please contact Travis Smith at tsmithnc@msn.com for more information on volunteering in this area.

ANIMALS - Approximately 300-400 rabbits and cavies are needed for the Youth Contests. These animals arrive and leave with the same rules as those that are entered in the show. There is separate cooping for the contest animals. Some are needed for Breed Identification contests and others are needed for the Judging Contests. Gerry Vaerewyck is collecting a list of animals for these contests.
Please contact Gerry Vaerewyck at gv@vere.com for more information on volunteering in this area.
